Coronation Street fans fear for legend after Becky Swain update reveals ‘true motive’

Coronation Street fans have been left fearing for a Weatherfield legend after Becky Swain’s ‘true motive’ was revealed – and she’s not going to be afraid to get what she wants.
Those who follow the ITV soap know that the new character made a shock arrival on the cobbles last month, revealing herself as the late wife of Lisa Swain.
The detective sergeant was led to believe that Becky had died in the line of duty and she and her daughter, Betsy, were left to grieve for four years until her sudden arrival on Betsy’s 18th birthday.
Lisa’s jaw dropped when she found Becky standing in front of her in the living room of her new home, No. 6 Coronation Street, before Carla arrived home to the emotional scene.
As an emotional Lisa was unable to figure out if what was happening was real, Becky explained that she had been in Spain under another name, having been put into witness protection, following an undercover operation gone wrong.
Lisa’s boss, DI Costello, then confirmed Becky’s version of events when confronted by her, unable to believe that he would watch her and her daughter grieve for all these years while knowing the truth.
The weeks have since passed and with Betsy now aware of her mum’s surprise return, the teen appears keen to keep her close, causing problems for Lisa and her new fiancee, Carla Connor.
While Corrie fans think they have Becky sussed, Corrie’s producer, Kate Brooks, recently told the Manchester Evening News that there is more to come.
She said: “It’s a really exciting story and Becky is someone you don’t want to mess with. She’s got her sights firmly on getting that family back and she’s clever and she’s wily and she stayed dead for four years, she knows what she’s doing and how to lie her way out of situations”
“She is also capitalising on the fact that Lisa is still struggling to process this and what she’s offering is a glimpse of the past and the life they had together. So there’s loads to come.”
And with Becky seemingly not afraid to cause problems, Corrie fans have pondered how Carla’s beloved friend and father-figure, Roy Cropper, could be further embroiled in the story.
