In a fresh episode of Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted, Beverley, who played Corrie’s Liz McDonald, and her partner Jon McEwan desperately sought assistance from paranormal specialists to banish a sinister presence they believe haunts their 19th-century converted barn house in Norfolk.
The couple have experienced mysterious foul odours, unexplained floating luminous objects and sightings of crimson lights throughout the night, creating an overwhelming sense of an otherworldly presence.
They are not alone in these experiences, reports the Mirror. Following Beverley’s daughter’s own encounter with supernatural activity, she has point-blank declined to set foot on the property again.

Beverley herself now avoids the barn entirely, particularly after witnessing items levitating in its centre. “Since that moment I have not been back to the barn at all, and there’s no way I’m going in there now!” she declared whilst viewing CCTV recordings from the barn.
She also confessed she would “faint with fear” should the entity prove to be the spirit of a woman. “Please don’t be a grey lady who’s wearing perfume or something because I will faint with fear!”.
The remark proved to be an eerie moment of foreshadowing, as psychic medium Ian Lawman sensed a powerful masculine presence within the barn.

Local history researcher Jayne Harris also uncovered that the Black Death had wiped out three-quarters of the nearby village and heard regional folklore tales of residents spotting lights in the distance.
Eventually the paranormal investigation team and Beverley chose to attempt a form of divination called ‘pendulum dowsing’ to make contact with the spirit.

However, as Beverley sat at the table gripping the pendulum, she developed a fever and frantically pleaded to “run” from the room.
Beverley has appeared on Coronation Street across multiple periods since 1989, portraying Liz McDonald.
Across her numerous storylines, Liz has endured abuse, engaged in an affair and suffered kidnapping.
The actress initially departed the role in 1998 to pursue a career as an aerobics instructor and dedicate more time to her family, but she made her comeback in 2003.
Excluding a brief hiatus in 2010, Beverley stayed with the programme until April 2011, only to make her return two years afterwards.
Her concluding scenes were broadcast in 2020, following which Beverley participated in I’m A Celebrity.
Her daughter, Rebecca Callard, is also an actress, who featured in Corrie in 2011 as Ruth Walsh. Rebecca’s father was Paul Atkinson, who was Beverley’s first husband.
Beverley subsequently wed David Snowden, an economics teacher, and later Jon McEwan. She has been married to Jon since 2010 and they relocated to Norfolk in 2022.
