Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd says Strictly judge left him ‘raging’ in TV show move

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has recalled the time a Strictly Come Dancing judge left him ‘raging’ as they appearedd on the same TV show.

The actor, who hails from Pudsey in West Yorkshire, is best known for playing David Platt in the ITV soap, having recently celebrated 25 years in the famous role.

However, there was a decade when the troublesome son of Gail Platt was played by another actor. Born on Christmas Day 1990, David was originally portrayed by Thomas Ormson until 2000.

The same year, Jack was recast in the role at 12 years old and he has since gone on to play a part in the soap’s biggest storylines in the past quarter of a century.

But amid his time on the cobbles, Jack has been seen making guest appearances on a number of shows, most notably winning Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year, which happened to be his first time taking part in a reality TV programme.

That being said, he has took part in plenty of quizzing and in a recent episode of his podcast, On the Sofa, which he co-hosts with Corrie pals Ben Price and Colson Smith, the soap star was heard recalling his time on Tipping Point.

Jack appeared on the celebrity version of the show, Tipping Point: Lucky Stars back in 2020 alongside the now-late Strictly star Len Goodman and broadcaster Liza Tarbuck as they played for an up to £20,000 jackpot to give to a charity of their choice.

While on the ITV show, hosted by Ben Shephard, Jack made an early exit, bagging the £1,000 he had built up for his charity, before Liza lost out to Len, who made it to the final, where he took home nearly £7,000 for his charity.

But recalling the experience, Jack laughed as he admitted to being slightly screwed over by Len, who sadly passed away in April 2023, aged 78.

Ben was heard asking if either Jack or Colson had been on the show, to which his on-screen brother replied: “I’ve done that one. I’ve done Tipping Point. Led Goodman f**ked me… completely!” As Ben and Colson laughed, they started shouting at ‘seven’ in Len’s signature tone.

Jack then went on to explain: “He was next to me and I was getting the answers all right…” As Ben interjected: “My buzzer wasn’t working and he goes, ‘seven!'”

But Jack said: “No, I was getting everything teed up towards the end of the f**king thing…” Colson jumped in: “Len Goodman stole from you?” to which Jack confirmed: “Len Goodman just jumped in and went, ‘[acting out pushing a buzzer]’ and went, ‘Malubu Beach House, drope zone four’ and then got all my money.

“I got, like, five questions in a row, got everything on the edge and he just went, boom! He got everything. I was f**king raging!”
