Coronation Street’s Channique Sterling-Brown declares ‘a wrap’ after major exit boost
The actress, who joined the ITV soap back in 2022 as Dee-Dee Bailey, recently announced plans to bow out
Channique Sterling-Brown has declared ‘a wrap’ on her time on Coronation Street as she confirmed filming had come to an end.
The actress, who joined the ITV soap back in 2022 as Dee-Dee Bailey, recently announced plans to bow out of the long-running show after three years.
Fans will recall when she arrived as the much-talked-about Diana, aka Dee-Dee, the daughter of Aggie and Ed Bailey, who made their own arrival in Weatherfield in 2019, bringing the first regular Black family onto the show.
Sharing a string of pictures of herself playing Dee-Dee, her first TV role, Channique wrote on Instagram: “After three whirlwind years of Dee-Dee Bailey, I’ve decided to say farewell to the cobbles.
“Bittersweet to be saying goodbye, but I am so excited for pastures new and enjoying the end of playing Princess Diana and her many expressions.”
It was the following week that Channique revealed that her time on the cobbles is quickly coming to an end as she shared a video of herself in the Rovers with her on-screen brothers – Jason Callender and Ryan Russell.
Alongside the clip, the soap star wrote: “Last time filming in the local x,” before tagging the location as the Rovers Return, Coronation Street, Weatherfield.
And now, Channique has confirmed that her time filming for Corrie has come to an end. She took to Instagram on Wednesday (October 15) with a beaming picture of herself outside the show’s Trafford-based set, alongside a picture of her completing the Manchester Half Marathon just this weekend.
Alongside the post, she shared: “Thats a wrap x2! Quite the week, she doesn’t do things by half (except marathons),” before the comments quickly came flooding in.
@rachelgouldingcrafts said: “Best of luck. Corrie won’t be the same without your girl power.” @swarlaxconnor commented: “Best of luck for whatever you do next, loved deedee.” @liaxjade replied: “I’m so sad you’ve left.” @xedjon94 added: “Good luck for the next adventure.”
It comes after Channique was given a boost ahead of her exit, revealing she had been long-listed for the Favourite Soap Actor gong at the TV Choice Awards 2026.
Sharing the news, she wrote on her Instagram Story: “Thank you for the nomination @tvtimesmagazine.”
