The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.

Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) was left incredibly worried in the latest episode of Emmerdale, as he witnessed mum Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) collapse in a field.

Moira is currently juggling home life and Butlers Farm all alone due to Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) being away. A couple of weeks ago, he packed a bag and departed the village for France.

After learning that Caleb Miligan (William Ash) helped John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) go on the run, Cain discovered that his son’s killer was planning on going to France after Rotterdam. He then decided to track him down, certain he needed to face some sort of consequence for murdering Nate.

With Cain failing to answer his phone as well, Moira has no idea what he’s up to. Amid this stress, she’s a mum to two young boys, and also trying to keep Butlers Farm from collapsing after a difficult year.

The last thing Moira needed was more stress, but that’s exactly what she came across as today’s instalment opened.

After noticing the garage was shut, Moira called Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah). He didn’t answer, due to him spending the morning with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).

The couple were having breakfast in the café. When Moira arrived, she pushed Kammy to go and open the garage, but he refused to budge until he had eaten his butty.

So fair.

A while later, Moira was attempting to move some fence panels across a field. She was breathless and walking slowly, and then collapsed to the floor.

Fortunately, Matty was on hand to help, but he was left in a terrible panic. Last year, Moira was diagnosed with a brain tumour and one of the many symptoms saw her collapse and experience seizures. It was no surprise Matty feared his mum was getting poorly again.

Moira reassured Matty and said she’s just feeling under the weather and exhausted. Matty pointed out that she’d feel better if Cain was around, but Moira defended him and said he’s dealing with his grief.

But Matty had a counter-argument. He highlighted that when he lost Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) he could’ve spiralled like Cain, but chose to focus on the fact he has responsibilities.

Moira knew that Matty was right, and considered contacting Cain to ask him to come home.

Cain will return next week, but he really won’t be in a position to help Moira. In fact, he’s probably going to end up making things worse.

Reliant on booze to help him get through the day, Cain seems reluctant to talk about John and whether he actually found him.

Moira tries to tell him that he’s a family man and needs to step up – and reminds him of the fact it’s Zak’s anniversary coming up, but Cain can’t hear any of it.

Belle (Eden Taylor Draper) and Sam (James Hooton) are crushed when Cain fails to show at their dad’s grave.
