Coronation Street’s Lucy Fallon responds to claims she spoiled a huge storyline

Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has responded to claims that she spoiled a huge storyline after seemingly leaking the news that Doctor Who star Amy Cudden would be joining the cast. The Bethany Platt actor exited the soap earlier this year after taking some time off for maternity leave, having welcomed a baby with partner Ryan Ledson back in January.

Ahead of her return to the cobbles, which aired last week, Lucy shared a reel on Instagram in which Cudden’s name could be seen above a dressing room mirror.

Speaking about the supposed spoiler, which Lucy shared just two days before Cudden was introduced as Lisa Swain’s wife Becky Swain, Lucy told The Sun: “Oh my god, yeah.”

She continued: “Someone tagged me in a social post saying, ‘Lucy Fallon comes back after having a baby and leaks the biggest storyline in Corrie.’

“I was like, ‘What the hell are they talking about? What have I done?’ But honestly, nobody would have known what character that name belonged to – it wasn’t even a spoiler at that point.”

After taking a break from the cobbles in 2020, Lucy returned after three years, explaining that she has no plans to leave the soap.

“I don’t plan on leaving Corrie to do other things. In the past, I wanted to try maybe a drama – and I did that in the time that I was away – but [elsewhere] you don’t get the friendships.”

Speaking about why she loves her job on Corrie, Lucy added: “I’ve gone back and it’s so familiar. I feel so comfortable, it’s consistent, I get to drive from home to work and then go back home to my children.”

While the soap star is happy where she is, she said she would be willing to take some time off to appear on a popular reality TV show.

“Obviously, Strictly is more complicated because it’s BBC, but I would love to do the jungle,” she said. “I’m happy to stay at Corrie and do these other things like that, just as life experiences.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
