Coronation Street’s Jodie Prenger has opened up about her character’s future amid the Rovers Return takeover
Coronation Street’s Jodie Prenger has hinted at what the future might hold for her character, Glenda Shuttleworth, on the famous cobbles.

Fans of the soap will remember that Eva Price recently made a return to Weatherfield, where her partner Ben Driscoll surprised her by purchasing the Rovers Return Inn, allowing her to take up the role of landlady.
However, it was soon unveiled that Ben’s meddlesome mother, Maggie Driscoll, had contributed towards the purchase of the pub and is now a co-owner of the iconic local, much to Eva’s chagrin.
These recent events have left Glenda, who was serving as the manager of the Rovers, feeling unsettled as she frets over her future in the beloved pub.
Speaking exclusively to Reach PLC at a recent Coronation Street event, Jodie, 46, who plays Glenda, gave some insight into her character’s future, reports the Daily Star.

Discussing any potential tension between Glenda and Eva, she said: “Friction [between the two characters]? No. I think she’s just…. uncertainty, so she doesn’t know what’s ahead. I think Glenda, genuinely, I think Glenda and partially Jodie, I’m not going to lie, really loves it there [Rovers].
“I think it’s the uncertainty of not knowing what’s going to happen to her job and I just hope that she gets to stay there because I think that’s mainly me!
“It’s awesome in that Rovers, you get to see everyone else having their moments, pour them a pint and put the world to right!”

In other news, Jodie has shared that her character Glenda will remain protective over her newly-single brother George Shuttleworth, portrayed by Tony Maudsley, as he develops a bond with Christina Boyd, played by Amy Robbins.
Jodie commented: “Oh she’s protective, she will b***h slap her if she ever hurts her George!”, and added: “It’s a shame because I love Amy Robbins [who plays Christina], she is sensational and extremely funny!”

Regarding the relationship between Glenda and Christina, the actress noted: “Glenda’s not taken to her too quickly… I hope she thaws…”
On the topic of Glenda’s personal love life, Jodie confessed she’d like to see her character find love, although she highlighted: “She’d probably end up getting her heart broken, she’s too trusting sometimes, but she’d love a fella or she’d love a dog!”
