Coronation Street viewers have forecasted a surprise new romance for Bethany Platt and another resident of the cobbles, following her return to the soap.

Bethany (played by Lucy Fallon) was last seen in February, when she bid farewell to Weatherfield after ending things with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), upon discovering his infidelity with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).

Viewers will remember that Bethany and Daniel had a tumultuous relationship over the years, with plans to tie the knot. However, Daniel ended up in bed with his ex, Daisy.

Consequently, a devastated Bethany chose to take up a job at a magazine in London and relocated there. In reality, actress Lucy took a break from the soap for her maternity leave.

Lucy welcomed her daughter, Nancy Margaret, in January 2025. She shares the little one with her footballer boyfriend Ryan Ledson, and they are also parents to Sonny Jude, born in 2023, reports the Daily Star.

A few months after the birth of her second child, it was revealed that Lucy was back on set at the ITV soap as Bethany. And in Friday’s episode (October 3), she made her comeback, where she found herself being interrogated by the police for allegedly nicking a car.

While conversing with PC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) – who is dating her mum Sarah (Tina O’Brien) – Bethany disclosed that she had resigned from her job in London and borrowed the car from her boss without their consent.

Kit managed to pull a few strings to get Bethany off the hook – much to her delight. Later, Bethany reunited with her mum Sarah who was thrilled to hear Bethany was back in Weatherfield for good.

However, with Bethany penniless and jobless, Sarah reassured her that she could move in with her. But now, with more drama undoubtedly on the horizon, viewers have predicted a surprise new romance between Bethany and Kit.

On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person commented: “Kit and Bethany are def going to be a thing.” Another chimed in: “How long until Bethany and Kit sleep together then?”. A third agreed: “I said the same.” Echoing their thoughts, another person declared: “Knowing Kit, he’ll bed Bethany while still bedding her mother!”.

Last month, Lucy spoke about her return to the soap and revealed she was “really excited”. She told Digital Spy: “It’s good to be back with everybody – not hiding a baby bump anymore!” she said. “It’s nice to just be free! It’s exciting, I’m looking forward to everyone seeing it.”
