A Coronation Street star has been supported by fans following a devastating family bereavement.

Millie Gibson portrayed troublesome Kelly Neelan on the ITV soap, arriving on screens in 2019. It’s safe to say she found herself at the centre of numerous dramatic storylines during her stint on the cobbles.
Her character’s journey encompassed everything from being caught up in a racially motivated assault to being fostered by Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor), ensuring her Weatherfield tenure was packed with compelling drama.
Nevertheless, in 2022, Millie departed the soap, acknowledging her choice to leave was challenging but emphasising she needed to “trust her instinct”.
Following her departure, she has remained occupied securing a part as The Doctor’s companion Ruby Sunday in the BBC and Disney+ series Doctor Who from 2023 to 2025, reports the Daily Star.

Yet this week, Millie faced heartache and revealed that her cherished dog had passed away. Posting on her Instagram, Millie uploaded numerous photographs of the beloved four-legged family member.
In the caption she wrote: “15 years with the bestest friend I could ever ask for. Heart is so broken. You are so loved. Rest peacefully my wolf. I love you Spike.”

Millie’s followers and former colleagues quickly surrounded the soap actress with comfort. In the comments section, Toyah star Georgia Taylor wrote: “Oh darling I’m heartbroken for you. What a beauty he was. Love you.”
Sally Carman, who plays Abi Webster, penned: “I’m so sorry lovely.”
Meanwhile, one fan said: “Oh dear Millie, so sorry to hear this. What a beautiful boy he was. Big hug,sending you much love.” Another penned: “Oh darling! So sorry for your loss. What a beautiful fur baby! Sending big hugs!”.
In other Millie news, the actress is set to appear in forthcoming period drama The Forsytes, where she’s barely recognisable as a ballet dancer sporting lengthy red locks.
The six-part series, adapted from John Galsworthy’s novels, features a stellar cast including Home and Away’s Joshua Orpin, One Day’s Eleanor Tomlinson, This Life’s Jack Davenport, and Downton Abbey’s Tuppence Middleton, alongside Francesca Annis, Jamie Flatters, Susan Hampshire and Danny Griffin.
