Coronation Street legend Eva Price dealt with heartbreak just days after return

Coronation Street’s Eva Price was dealt with a chilling threat from her mother-in-law at the end of Monday night’s episode amid family heartbreak.
The character, played by Catherine Tyldesley, made her grand return to the long-running ITV soap last week to take on the coveted role of Rovers Return landlady, but things have already started to go awry. Prior to her comeback, Eva, who initially appeared from 2011 to 2018, had been living in Hull with daughter Susie, as well as her partner and his sons Ollie and Will.
Ben had bought the pub as a surprise for Eva, but a problem with the funds meant his mother Maggie (Pauline McLynn) had to step in to help, and it’s become clear that she and Eva do not have the best relationship. In the latest instalment of the long-running show, Will had been due to travel to Weatherfield from Hull Ollie went to the station to collect him, he returned with the news that he was nowhere to be found.
Will had not answered any calls and assuming he had stayed behind in Hull, Maggie exclaimed: “He didn’t want to move, and we all know it!” She later fumed: “I’m just saying, with his GCSEs just around the corner, maybe that could’ve been prioritised over this!”
By locking up time came around at the pub, there was still no word and Eva told Maggie that she’d contacted the police, and mentioned to them that this had happened to the teenager before. Distraught, Eva said: “Maggie, what if he’s had an accident?”
Hinting at what’s to come, Maggie said: “He’ll turn up. But when he does, he needs to understand what he’s put you through and you need to understand what you’ve put him through,” before coldly suggesting that Eva ‘didn’t care as much’ because Will is not biologically her child.
It was then that Ollie pulled a note from Will’s schoolbag, which read: “Thanks for last night xx,” prompting him to believe that his little brother was in love with someone. Maggie said: “I don’t care if he is,” as she looked Eva right in the eye and said: “If anything has happened to that boy, you will regret the day you came here and I will make sure of it.”
It’s looking like there’s a dramatic time ahead for the new Weatherfield residents, and fans of the programme quickly flocked to social media to share their reaction when they first appeared, with one writing: “The new era at the Rovers Return has begun!!! See there is some light hearted moments with the residents of #Corrie – more episodes like this please!!! Not even a police station or hospital scene in sight!!!”
Another said: “The new era! This is where #Corrie absolutely thrives. Community, the pub, good use of characters, strong script. It’s what makes a good soap. If they all start focusing more on this and less time on stunts and murders, they can win back the audience.”
A third said: “Idk how to explain it, it’s just that this scene has soul. It feels alive” and a fourth added: “This new era of #Corrie with Eva and Ben at the forefront of the Rovers is going to be amazing!!”
