OMG SHOCKING!!! Coronation Street rules out key character’s return in Asha’s storyline

Coronation Street has seemingly ruled out a speedy return visit for Aadi Alahan following his twin sister Asha’s emotional new storyline. The ITV soap airs devastating scenes this evening, as Asha is found unconscious at the Victoria Gardens after hitting rock bottom.

As Asha is rushed to hospital, her loved ones are horrified to realise that she has attempted to take her own life. The upsetting turn of events follows months of pressures for Asha, who has been struggling with recent tragedies on the cobbles, the stress of her job as a paramedic, and a distressing encounter with a racist member of the public.

In tonight’s episode, Asha thankfully recovers after an emergency team at the hospital help to save her life.

Her father Dev is left distraught as she confirms that she has been suffering from depression and anxiety for a while – and took booze and pills with the intention of ending her own life.

Dev’s relieved when Asha confirms that she’s pleased her plan didn’t work and she’s glad to be alive, but it’s clear that it’ll take a long time before the Alahans can ever truly move on from this.

When Aadi calls for a chat following his recent move to India, Asha is firm that she doesn’t want him to know anything about her ordeal.

“I don’t want him worrying about me,” Asha tells Dev. “He’s having the best time over there. And anyway, he’ll just annoy me if he comes back.”

She adds: “Promise me, you won’t tell him.”

Adam Hussain announced in April that he was leaving Coronation Street after five years in the role of Aadi.

Aadi’s exit storyline saw him leave Weatherfield for a fresh start and a new job in India, realising that it was time to pursue his own ambitions in life.

“I’ve loved playing Aadi, I have made good friends on the set, and I am going to miss Corrie dearly,” Adam told The Mirror in his final week on screen.

“But I am going to be 25 in October, and I felt it was the right time to leave. It was my decision, and the producers were so understanding. I want to spread my wings a little, go out in the big world and see what else I can do.”
