Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall supported by co-stars over ‘honour’ in major boost
Alan Halsall has been supported by his Coronation Street co-stars as he was left gushing over an ‘honour’ he received during a night away from the cobbles.
The actor is famed for playing Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV soap, having made his Weatherfield debut, aged 16, in November 1998 in the role of the delinquent son of Jackie Dobbs.
At sixteen, he left his mother and her difficult ways behind and trained as an apprentice mechanic under Kevin Webster and 10 years later ended up buying half the business.
The rest, as they say, is history and throughout the years fans of the ITV soap have seen much of Tyrone’s storylines focused on his relationships – particularly that with now-wife, Fiz Dobbs.
Tyrone is currently facing a fresh challenge, having been injured, losing the feeling in his legs, in a recent hit and run, which he doesn’t know was caused by Carl Webster.
But away from what’s happening on the famous Street, Alan was chuffed to have been recognised as a ‘legend’. The actor was among those picking up awards Variety Legends of Industry event, held at the Manchester Deansgate Hotel, last month.
As well as the Corrie star, other recipients on the star-studded night alo includedTV star Vanessa Feltz, former Lioness and I’m A Celebrity winner Jill Scott, pop icon Sonia and The Chase’s Anne Hegerty.
Weeks on from the event and Alan has taking to social media to reflect on the recognition. Sharing a beaming snap of himself and his award, the 43-year-old said: “I’m incredibly honoured to have received the Variety ‘Legends of Industry Award’ in recognition of my contribution to the television industry.
“It was such a special evening for me & my family and a moment I’ll never forget. I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supported me throughout my career — this truly means the world.”
He added: “A huge thank you to Variety, the Children’s Charity, for this honour and for the incredible work they do improving the lives of children and young people every day. #LegendsOfIndustry #Variety #Grateful #Television #ThankYou.”
Corrie’s official Instagram page were quick to respond, commenting: “Congratulations Al!” while on-screen mum Claire Sweeney said: “Congratulations xxx.” Ryan Thomas, who shot to fame in the ITV soap, replied: “Big legend.”
Hinting that Alan hadn’t been quite about his award win, Sally Carman-Duttine commented: “Al, this is amazing! Why didn’t you mention it??? [crying laughing and heart emojis].” Former Corrie co-star Natalie Gumede also shared: “You’ve made it to be one of the LEGENDS!”
Fans were also keen to show their support. @xjeankellyx wrote: “Congratulations Alan you truly deserve it. I am so proud of you and to be your fan.” @michellewardingley posted: “Congratulations Al well deserved.” @treanygram typed: “Oh, well done!!!
