Coronation Street fans think Gail Platt could return
With David and Shona expecting a baby fans are speculating a comeback
Gail Platt is set to return to screens, acciording to Coronation Street fans. The character, played by Helen Worth, first joined the cast in 1974 but left last year.

Now fans think the iconic star is set to make a return to the cobbles, The Mirror reports. Gail is known for her tumultuous love life and dramatic storylines involving her children David (Jack P. Shepherd), Sarah (Tina O’Brien) and Nick Tisley (Ben Price). Her storylines have also revolved around murders, affairs and plenty of drama.
Her exit story saw Gail bid an emotional farewell to the cobbles as she and husband Jesse Chadwick (played by John Thomson) jetted off to France to start a new life.
At the time Helen Worth said: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.”
Since her departure, Gail has been referenced on several occasions.
In Gail’s absence from the show there has still been plenty going on for the rest of her family with David expecting his first child with wife Shona (Julia Goulding).
Now fans are starting to speculate about the return of the to-be grandmother to the show.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer said: “Who thinks Gail will return when Shona gives birth?”

Another fan added: “I’d love that, even if it’s a video appearance.”
A third agreed: “I thought that as well.”
While not saying anything about Gail’s return when asked by the Mirror Julia said: “Yeah, not that it’s without its drama.” She added: “There’s more drama on the way, definitely.”

“What can I tease? I don’t know, apart from that there is gonna be lots of twists and turns for them regarding the future of their family… child.”
Coronation Street next airs on Monday, October 20.
