Coronation Street viewers are convinced that Debbie Webster is harbouring a secret offspring who’s already treading the cobbles.

Debbie, portrayed by Sue Devaney, first graced the long-standing ITV soap in 1984 as the sibling of soap icon Kevin, played by Michael Le Vell. She departed a year later, only to make a triumphant return in 2019.

It’s safe to say that Debbie has cemented her place in the hearts of fans. However, the beloved resident of the cobbles has had a tumultuous few months recently.

At the dawn of the year, Kevin’s life was thrown into chaos when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Then, Kevin and Debbie’s estranged brother Carl, played by Jonathan Howard, made an appearance after years spent in Germany.

However, in a devastating twist, Debbie was subsequently diagnosed with vascular dementia, a condition without a cure. Despite this, Debbie is resolved to live her life to the fullest, with her family rallying around her, reports the Daily Star.

Last week, however, Debbie was taken aback when she uncovered Carl and Kevin’s wife Abi’s, played by Sally Carman, scandalous affair. Despite her fury, a livid Debbie vowed to keep quiet to Kevin but insisted that Carl and Abi end their liaison – which they didn’t.

Nevertheless, this week, Kevin discovered the truth about Abi and his brother’s antics, following a colossal gaffe made by Abi at a family birthday celebration.

With everything now out in the open, Debbie once more insisted that Carl and Abi must end their relationship, declaring that Abi “isn’t good enough” for Carl. She subsequently offered comfort to a devastated Kevin, whilst keeping quiet about her prior knowledge of Abi and Carl’s affair.

However, in what could prove to be a dramatic turn of events, viewers believe Debbie is harbouring a major secret – that Carl might actually be her son. On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one viewer posted: “Who thinks Carl is Debbie’s secret son! ! ? ? That’s why Abby’s not good enough for him.”

Another viewer responded: “Oh my goodness ! I think you’re onto something!”. A third added: “That’s exactly what I thought.” A fourth commented: “Imagine it coming out with the dementia all the juicy secrets!”.

Another viewer drew parallels with rival soap EastEnders, suggesting: “Look at Kat Slater in Eastenders her parents brought her daughter up..Zoe as there own so it could be that Kevin dad and stepmother brought Carl up as there’s anything possible in soapland ..”
