Huge Rovers Return update as legendary Coronation Street pub is sold
Huge Rovers Return update as legendary Coronation Street pub is officially sold after major exit

Coronation Street is home to what is, potentially, the countries most famous pub, The Rovers Return.
The pub has had its fair share of owners over the years, including some of the most iconic characters the street has ever seen including the Duckworths, Jack and Vera (Bill Tarmey and Liz Dawn), Alec Gilroy (Roy Barraclough), Mike Baldwin (Johnny Briggs), Fred Elliott (John Savident), Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard) and, most recently, Jenny Connor (Sally-Ann Matthews).
Jenny certainly hadn’t been herself since having to take off the Queen of the Rovers crown when Carla Connor (Alison King) put the pub on the market to recoup the money that Jenny had previously stolen from her.
While Jenny retreated to working in the Kabin alongside former step mum Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox), it was obvious her unhappiness amid her battle for George Shuttleworth’s (Tony Maudsley) heart against nemesis Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) was increasing.

When she saw a service order for a woman only a year older than her at George’s funeral parlour, Jenny was clearly shaken and she opened up about not liking the person she was currently, lamenting about feeling unfulfilled.
While George encouraged her to spread her wings, she determined to stay behind for Rita. George and Rita got together, and the latter bought Jenny a one-way ticket to Tenerife to visit her friend.
Dumping her Rovers nameplate, Jenny headed off for a fresh start.

Next week, Carla tells her fiancee DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) that she’s finally sold the pub, to someone named ‘Ben’.
As fans already know, the ‘Ben’ in question is Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker), boyfriend of returning Weatherfield icon, Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley). Joining them will be Ben’s mum, Maggie (Pauline McLynn), his two boys and Eva’s daughter, Suzie.
The huge Driscoll/Price clan is poised to make an enormous splash as the settle into the iconic watering hole.

‘We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow,’ said Corrie boss Kate Brooks at the time.
‘The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees ups galore.
‘To have actors of Catherine, Aaron and Pauline’s considerable calibre at the beating heart of this family is absolutely wonderful, and we can’t wait for you to get to know and fall in love with them as much as we have already done. Strap yourselves in, it’s going to be an exciting and eventful ride.’
With the sale now complete, it seems to be only a matter of time before their arrival…
