During Wednesday’s trip to the village (October 8), proud step-mum Nicola King (played Nicola Wheeler) was over the moon to learn that her son, Carl Holliday (Charlie Joyce), has taken a romantic interest in Clemmie Reed (Mabel Addison).

However, Nicola was stunned to receive a phone call from Carl’s school explaining he had been hit by another student.

Moments later, Dawn Fletcher (Oliver Bromley) and her boyfriend Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) also received a call from a teacher explaining that her son Lucas Taylor (Noah Ryan Aspinall) had attacked a fellow pupil at school, and immediately worked out the victim was Carl.

Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) failed to get his adoptive son Lucas to admit the reason behind the fight, as did Joe; therefore, Dawn demanded that he apologise to Carl.

As Dawn and Nicola squabbled over their son’s fight, the argument began to escalate.

Nicola blamed Dawn’s personal life and affair with Joe for young Lucas’s behaviour, as Dawn attempted to get her son to apologise to Carl.

“I’m not sorry. I’m glad I hit him,” Lucas said as Carl failed to look at his attacker.

After Nicola branded him a “jealous little bully”, he and Dawn went home.

Nicola told Carl he’d be safe once Lucas got expelled, but Carl didn’t sound too convinced. She is also worried that Kim Tate (Claire King) would get involved in the feud and take Lucas’s side.

Emmerdale fans were left confused over Lucas’s attack on Carl, with one person writing on X: “What has wee Carl done #Emmerdale.”

A second asked: “What did Carl do? #Emmerdale”, while a third chimed in: “They should ask Lucas WHY he hit Carl. There must have been a reason #emmerdale.”

While the parents initially dismiss the boys’ fight as an ordinary fallout between classmates, the truth is much darker.

In upcoming scenes of the ITV soap, the real reason why Lucas hit Carl is set to be exposed.

Carl is set to get in trouble for sharing an indecent image of Lucas’s sister Clemmie, which is why Lucas got protective of her and reacted violently.
