Brooke, who famously portrayed Sophie Webster on the ITV soap for 15 years, shared how the grief would “punch her in the throat” every time she tried to speak about it. “For a long time I felt like someone was punching me in the throat whenever I spoke about it,” she said, fighting through emotion. “It comes on at the most random times.”

The loss wasn’t just emotional—it was transformative. Brooke explained that losing someone so close changes everything: “When you lose somebody who is that close to you, you just feel ‘f*** everything else,’ because nothing will hurt me as much as this.”

Brooke revealed that she often played her grandmother’s favorite song at home just to cry and release the pain. “Because I wanted there to be a time when I’m drunk, when I’m sober, and her song will come on and it doesn’t feel like someone has punched me in the throat.”
